چکیده

We show that the theory of MV-algebras is Morita-equivalent to that of abelian `-groups with strong unit. This generalizes the well-known equivalence between the categories of set-based models of the two theories established by D. Mundici in 1986, and allows to transfer properties and results across them by using the methods of topos theory. We discuss several applications, including a sheaf-theoretic version of Mundici's equivalence and a bijective correspondence between the geometric theory extensions of the two theories.

Morita-equivalences for Mv-algebras

We shall make a survey of the most recent results obtained in connection with the programme of investigating notable categorical equivalences for MV-algebras from a topos-theoretic perspective commenced in [3]. In [3] and [2] we generalize to a topos-theoretic setting two classical equivalences arising in the context of MV-algebras: Mundici’s equivalence [4] between the category of MV-algebras ...

Extending Chang’s construction to the category of m-zeroids and some category containing the category of Abelian `-groups with strong unit

In this note we prove that it is impossible to extend the natural equivalence between the category of MV-algebras and the category of Abelian `-groups with strong unit described by C. C. Chang, 1958, and Cignoli & Mundici, 1997, to a natural equivalence between the category of m-zeroids and some category containing the category of Abelian `-groups with strong unit.

Lattice-ordered abelian groups and perfect MV-algebras: a topos-theoretic perspective

This talk is based on [2]. We establish, generalizing Di Nola and Lettieri’s categorical equivalence [3], a Morita-equivalence between the theory of lattice-ordered abelian groups and that of perfect MValgebras. Further, after observing that the two theories are not bi-interpretable in the classical sense, we identify, by considering appropriate topos-theoretic invariants on their common classi...

MV-algebras: a variety for magnitudes with archimedean units

Chang’s MV-algebras are, on the one hand, the algebras of the infinite-valued Lukasiewicz calculus and, on the other hand, they are categorically equivalent to abelian lattice-ordered groups with a distinguished strong unit, for short, unital `-groups. The latter are a modern mathematization of the time-honored euclidean magnitudes with an archimedean unit. While for magnitudes the unit is no l...

MV-algebras with operators (the commutative and the non-commutative case)

In the present paper we define the (pseudo) MV-algebras with n-ary operators, generalizing MV-modules and product MV-algebras. Our main results assert that there are bijective correspondences between the operators defined on a pseudo MV-algebra and the operators defined on the corresponding `-group. We also provide a categorical framework and we prove the analogue of Mundici’s categorical equiv...
